Shoolagiri Dam

Bengaluru-Chennai Road is biker heaven if you love cruising at a steady speed all credits to the smooth tarmac. Many Bikers & Cyclist come here over weekends to explore the stretch for a breakfast ride. I was riding with Bangalore Bikers today which is a biking community with like minded riders which organizes many rides and today they happen to be organize welcome ride for new bikers in the community for the month of October 2022. The destination we are going today is Shoolagiri Dam located just few kilometers away from Shoolagiri village.

The Plan

Well its a organized ride from Bangalore Bikers and special thanks N I John from BB for organizing this ride, I have been with BB on their Independence Ride 2022 that ride too was well organized, kudos to John for making sure everything goes well in the ride. So the plan was to meet at Attibele Toll after Electronic City where around 50+ riders got together and split into 4 groups towards Shoolagiri Dam today's destination. Again John helped us in creating these groups with Head and Tail riders in each group so that no one is left out in the ride.

The Outline 

Bengaluru-Chennai Highway via Hosur has many places one can visit for a short breakfast ride which would be under 150km both ways from Bengaluru. Some places like Krishnagiri Dam, Ennegol pudur water falls, Bikkanapalli Falls, Kelavarapalli Dam and many more, so the plan was to visit Shoolagiri Dam which is located in scenic backdrop of mountains

Shoolagiri Dam


Shoolagiri (Thrishula / Trident hill) derives its name from the 3 adjacent hills that look like a Thrishula / Trident from a distance.

Built in 1985 on river Ponniar, this earth dam is 415 meters long, 25 meters tall, its located in scenic backdrop of mountains. Not a big dam, its kind of reservoir to store water. Early morning or evening is the best time to visit the place, newly laid road which leads to dam its quite scenic with greenery around and village backdrop.

I missed out the breakfast with the group as I rode ahead somehow my bad, but the ride ended well with piping hot Mutton Dum Biryani near Attibele 😋

Kyatanamakki Hill Trek

Date: 31 December 2022 Mode: Private Vehicle  Post Covid-19 I took biking as a hobby and started bike rides near by places around Bengaluru and I liked taking up solo adventure rides as I liked exploring new places other than the ride as well. Have trekked few nearby trekking spot on a solo expedition around Bengaluru like Savanadurga, Hutridurga, Antaragange, Kailasagiri.. Etc. I wanted to explore more starting from Western Ghats for trekking & was looking a way out to start the process as these treks needs a support system which can guide you to complete them. My cousin had been to one such organized trek to Kedarnath with Mad Adventures team earlier, so she told me I can join such team for organized treks. Why Mahindra Mojo?

Date: 16 September 2021 Let me put up some background how I own Mojo UT300. Lately I was planning to upgrade from my current 150cc to something bigger in displacement, anything more than 200cc up to 500cc was my plan. My take is in current Bengaluru and rest of Indian road conditions anything more than 500cc is a overkill as you don't have quality roads to unleash the bike power and its no safe either. So I shortlisted below bikes as per my requirements, I am 6'2ft tall with relatively below average body type so I was looking for a bike with upright seating position and with longer wheelbase so doesn't look odd when a 6ft guy rides it. A bike for both city and highway commute and once in a while mild off road riding.  Hero Xpulse 200: This wouldn't be of much upgrade from my existing 150cc bike, but it a fun and capable machine to explore off road and easy to maneuver in city conditions. 40+ fuel economy in current sky rocketing fuel prices is a big plus.  Dominar 250/4...

Antaragange Cave - Someshwara Temple

Date: 2 October 2021 Mode: Mahindra Mojo(SIMBA) One among the best adventure place for namma bengaluru people is Antaragange Cave and it would be in bucket list of many adventure seeking people. Its on the National Highway 75 (NH 75) aka Bengaluru Tirupathi Highway which is famous in biking and cycling community of Bengaluru for weekend rides. It's close to Kolar just before entering Kolar you need to take a exit. Recommended place for fit people as the trek and there after the cave exploration is physically demanding activity.
